Freight Car Diagram Book We were fortunate to find a copy of the Soo Line / W.C. freight car diagram book issued December 1, 1960, on the eve of the merger forming the new Soo Line Railroad from the M.St.P.& S.Ste.M., the W.C., and the D.S.S.& A. Contents include three index pages and 111 diagrams of freight cars and cabooses in use by the railroad at that time. Also included are the number of cars of each type still in use, car dimensions and specifications. The intent of the SLHTS is to publish a second freight car diagram book covering the cars acquired after the merger along with those modified or modernized after that time. If these books are successful, we intend to collect available diagrams of older cars, those gone from the rosters by 1962, for a third volume. The diagrams are printed in an 8 1/2” x 11” format, spiral bound at the top, allowing pages to lie flat and to have room on each page for reference notes to be added.
