Caboose Book Want List<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">As of September 8, 2025<\/p><p>The Soo Line Historical and Technical Society is in the process of publishing two books on cabooses.<\/p><p>The first is on the road\u2019s 145 Wide Vision Steel Cabooses built by International Car Company between 1966 and 1973.\u00a0 Former MN&amp;S and Former Milwaukee Road cars are not included.<\/p><p>Rebuilt wood car 278 is also not included.<\/p><p>We are gathering information and photos of these cars.\u00a0 Check back often as the needs will be updated.<\/p><p>Here is the current want list:<\/p><ol><li>Stories from railroaders that worked on (mechanical department craft or management) or crews using these cars.\u00a0 This could include quirks, preferred cars, steel vs. wood, assignments or anything you think might be interesting.<\/li><li>First hand stories of riding them in passenger service on trains 911\/912 between Neenah and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.<\/li><li>Current location of any cars. Many of these cars have been sold into private ownership but often through dealers.\u00a0 The SLHTS archives have little information on this especially since this is still on-going.<\/li><li>We have many photos of these cars in the archives but are always looking to improve the quality.\u00a0 \u00a0We are missing photos of the following cars:\u00a0 35, 54, 62,\u00a0 71, 72, 73, 82, 83, 84, 89, 90, 91, 107, 110, 118, 128, 130, 140, 142, 145<\/li><li>We are looking for nice and clean roster shots of these cars.
