SOO SD60 Sandwich in Portage, Wisconsin.

by Todd Brown

Spring is officially here and I officially received my first sunburn of the season this March 23, 2005 in Portage. Lots of traffic as usual which makes for a busy day if you enjoy filming the trains. Too bad gas is $2.16 a gallon! That was my only complaint this day. The highlight occured at 4:00 pm when an eastbound mixed freight with two Soo SD-60s pulled into town for a crew change before resuming their trip. Wheels, wheels, everywhere! A Pileated Woodpecker flying through my video was another perk for making the trip. Robins were calling everywhere during the day, and Woodcocks could be heard in the fields after sunset.
