2nd Spring Thaw in Portage - April 12, 2003 by Todd Brown Not suprisingly, the "spring thaw" I reported on March 15 didn't last all that long - about 24 hours to be exact. Until Saturday, April 12, the weekend weather had been very cold and quite depressing. But I guess that is what we expect in Wisconsin. The highlight of the day was watching a pair of Soo Line GP-38-2 switching tankcars full of asphalt in-and-out of the Meigs Asphalt and Paving Emulsions Portage plant.
