The Challenge of Finding and Photogaphing Soo Snow Plows in Action - by Bruce Oldenberg Sometimes I would see the train come into the yard, the engines pasted with snow, and know they must of had it rough on their run. But since I was busy at my own work, I couldn't see what Winter threw at them. Also, when I first started taking pictures (1975), I lived in far-northern Wisconsin, where there's very few roads to drive to see trains, and some of them ran only at night. It took a while to get lucky, train schedules got delayed into the weekend, and I could get some action photos. At the time, I thought it would be easy to repeat the feat, but it wasn't so. Some years there wasn't enough snow to get excited about, and in later years some tracks were abandoned. It's fun to watch an exciting 'battle' with Old Man Winter. For more amazing pictures like you see here, visit Bruce Oldenberg's railfan site. Nice commentary too!
