GBW Pullman-Standard 34' Twin Hoppers

Produced by Accurail exclusively for the SLHTS using artwork developed and provided by the society.

GBW open twin hopper cars in the series 401-420 came new to from Pullman-Standard in June, 1949. The original oxide red scheme carried KGBW reporting marks and the full road name on the car side. A red background livened up its Green Bay Route herald. A photo of KGBW 406 in this paint scheme appears in the September 1991 issure of "Mainline Modeler" in Stan Mailer's "Rolling Stock of the GB&W." When repainted in the 1970s, the cars were done in yellow. The yellow cars feature black lettering with a red and white Green Bay Route herald. At least one of the yellow cars, 414, became X414 when fitted with a roof having four round hatches for sand service. These Athearn cars are painted and decorated by Accurail also using accurately scaled lettering provided by the SLHTS.
