DSS&A 70-ton Offset Side Triple Hopper Car

Produced by Accurail exclusively for the SLHTS using artwork developed and provided by the society.

In 1955 the Duluth South Shore and Atlantic purchased 40 second-hand 70-ton offset-side triple hopper cars from the Delaware Lackawana & Western. These cars were built from 1926-1929 and were renumbered DSS&A 1800-1839. These distinctive-looking cars were painted oxide red with a black-background herald containing the complete Duluth South Shore and Atlantic roadname. After the 1961 merger, these DSS&A open hoppers were renumbered into the Soo Line Railroad's 65051-65124 series. These models are produced by Accurail using its new hopper car kit with lettering artwork provided by the SLHTS.
